Mental Health Skill-Building Clinician (QMHP-A)

We are seeking motivated professionals for our Mental Health Skill-building Program.  This program is designed to be goal-directed training to enable adult clients with mental illness achieve and maintain independence and community stability.

This is a community-based position and involves training that is focused on the following areas with clients:

• Functional skills and appropriate behavior related to the individual’s health and safety
• Activities of daily living
• Use of community resources
• Assistance with medication management
• Monitoring health, nutrition, and physical condition

Glascow provides services in all seven cities of Hampton Roads (Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Hampton, Newport News,  and Suffolk).

Candidates for this position must meet criteria to be a Qualified Mental Health Professionals- Adult (QMHP-A).  A bachelor’s or master’s degree in human services or a related field (e.g. counseling, psychology, social work) and at least 1500 hours of documented clinical experience with adults who have a DSM diagnosis is required for QMHP-A registration.

This position requires registration with a Board of Counseling as a QMHP-Adult.  Candidates who have already completed the registration process are preferred.

At a minimum, candidates should initiate the registration process prior to interviewing with Glascow. 

LMHP/LMHP-E

Provides Client with all qualifying documentation in order to be considered an independent contractor with Client such as original transcripts, QMHP certifications, criminal background through Fieldprint, etc.

Provides crisis stabilization services which is a short-term (7-15 day) intensive service that prevents individuals from having to be psychiatrically hospitalized.

Provides Intensive In-Home and/or Mental Health Skill Building Services on an intensive basis utilizing short-term, solution focused treatment strategies to clients and families.

Facilitates care coordination with other service providers to enlist existing supports in determining and meeting service objectives and to identify additional resources and supports.

Prepares written service plans and treatment update summaries, incorporating input from clients, other service providers, wraparound team members to identify problem areas and needs, service objectives, and intervention strategies.

Provides direct clinical services to clients, including individual and family interventions.

Responds to crisis situations with twenty-four hour a day availability.  Completes progress reports in reference to service delivery within 48 hours.

Participates in child specific Family Assessment and Planning Team (FAPT) and other interdisciplinary, diagnostic, and planning meetings.

Completes 20 hours per year of professional training provided by Integrated Health Services and outside providers.

Pass and complete DBHDS, DMAS, and Integrated Health Services required trainings on an ongoing annual basis to include but not limited to:  HIPAA, Bloodborne Pathogens, Crisis Wave, CPR, First Aid, Person Centered Practices, Human Rights, Mandated Reporting, and Emergency Preparedness.
